Why Is Car Insurance So Expensive?
Writing by Bree on Wednesday, 2 of January , 2008 at 9:06 am
Well about 6 months ago when Jason had his motorbike accident we still haven’t heard from our insurance company about the accident but I suppose that is because we didn’t have full coverage for the bike. That has made me think about our car and that we really should get car insurance for it. But the words cheap car insurance are in my mind and by my research really just words.
I have been checking out the web but really aren’t having much luck. Also because our car is so old I don’t want to be paying more for car insurance then what the car is worth that is why I am looking for cheap car insurance. I will keep trying to find some.
I am hoping financially within the next year that Jason and I can not only move to our own home but own a better car. Then I am sure the cost of car insurance would be worth it.
Anyway back to work.

Has anyone heard of budget direct car insurance? They don’t seem to be that cheap but than again insurance isn’t.

Bree,
I haven’t heard of Budget Direct Car Insurance. For the past year and a half I’ve been an Allstate agent. While there I learned the ins and outs of car and home insurance. Sometimes its affordable, sometimes it isn’t.
One interesting fact about car insurance is the price time line. Allow me to explain. Let’s say a brand new car is $100 per month for insurance. As it gets older (3-6 years) the monthly premium generally goes down. Let’s say it drops to $50 per month. When your car hits its 8th birthday you may see the price go up to $60 per month. The reason it does this is because once the car has hit a certain age, the parts that would be required to repair it if it were in an accident are harder to find. They become rare and obsolete. Which in turn makes repairing the car more expensive. Once explained to me, it made sense.
My philosopy is get as much insurance as I can afford. You never know how you might run over!
