Use Your Video Camera! Home Movies Are The Best!

Writing by Jason on Sunday, 21 of January , 2007 at 6:02 pm

I must say I am guilty of not using the video camera as often as I should, although compared to many people out there I am a fanatic behind the lens. All up I would have over 5000 digital photos and about 10 hours of video footage of the kids from when they were first born.

Just today I sat back with my 3 & 4 year old and we watched them as they were 1 & 2 and just how much they have changed. Out of all the videos we have for the kids (from cartoons to nature shows) they will always prefer to watch a home movie and normally they stay glued to it much longer than anything else on tv.

I think its great that we have so much to remember them by, and I am thankful that I have the opportunity to hold onto these precious memories and not let them slip by as my mind struggles to remember details of the past.

I would like to encourage everyone that has kids to go out and buy a video camera, they are very cheap these days, you can even pick them up for $100.

My video footage is priceless to me and looking back I waited so long to spend the money and get a camera, I should have purchased one as soon as my first child was born and I would have some great early footage but I hesitated and now am sorry for that. Now I just need to keep reminding myself to charge it up and get filming. I tend to be lazy in the filming department but in the back of my mind I know that I will lose out on these great memories if I don’t get my act into gear and keep that camera rolling.
